In the year 2018, the number of lawyers in India was estimated to be 2 million, out of which approximately 50% were found to be fake and non-practising lawyers. On scrutiny of various reports, it was found that only 10% of practising lawyers belong to the top layer, who make between Rupees fifty lakh to a crore per annum, and out of this top layer, only a minuscule per cent of them make crores of rupees in a single lawsuit. On the flip side, there is a huge percentage of lawyers who earn around Rupees five lakh to ten lakh, and in the last category, many lawyers earn less than Rupees two lakh per annum. Delhi has one lawyer for almost every 300 citizens and the annual growth of lawyers in India is 4%, on an average. The lawyer profession is chosen by default by the children of successful lawyers, but mostly it is those who cannot afford higher education, either due to the lack of competitiveness or due to the lack of economic means.
This blog is for the guidance of those who are in the middle and the last categories, who have untapped talent. Anyone can emerge as a Quintessential Advocate if they have the will to learn and rise up to be an inspiration to their family and society. This blog is also for those middle-aged men and women who feel that they had missed the bus at the prime of their careers but who have the urge to prove their mettle. This category has the fundamental qualities explained in the later chapters and can easily pole-vault them to success. All they need is to identify a law college managed by a private institution that readily admits candidates of all ages to accomplish their Law degree.
In fact, a person who is a ‘nobody’ can also become the Quintessential Advocate by following the basic principles enumerated in this blog. A litigant can be considered very lucky if he comes across a very responsible and reliable lawyer who understands his problem and works towards his relief. I had indeed turned from an Entrepreneur to a Lawyer because I could hardly find one within my budget. There is no dearth of lawyers in India as per the above statistics, but just imagine if most of them would easily come into the ‘The Quintessential Advocate’ category, the legal remedies could be achieved with lesser pain. Is it not that all proved quality control practices of the Germans and Japanese proved that the final product from a factory depends on the raw material and skilled workers employed? Just like so, strong fundamentals in legal practices will result in a healthy fraternity.
I wish to post my experiences in my legal profession in this blog from time-to-time which would contribute to the young lawyers to build their successful career. I will be sharing my experiences and results only and would avoid preaching any of the illusory or impracticable methods. The scale of success may differ from person to person in view of the circumstances and environment, but the success is assured. For the reason that i had groomed young advocates who had approached me for placements and I was glad that whoever followed my principles of legal practice had succeeded within no time, and those who did not follow the regime stayed in the last.
